Questions & Answers

Facility

  • Unfortunately, our Flagstaff facility does not have showers on site.

  • Our facility is an all free weight-focused gym—one of the last remaining 24-hour "old school" style gyms in the US. Our entire gym facility is over 90% Rogue® equipment and includes a 55 ft turf for sled and farmer carries, kilo plates, 4 lifting platforms, and over 8 stations for squat, bench, and deadlift. We also have rowers, assault bikes, speed bikes, treadmills, kettlebells, dumbbells, logs, and more.

We provide the best, so you can become your best.

  • Children under the age of 14 are not allowed in the fitness gym. Children 14 and over may enter the fitness gym and workout, but only under the supervision of his/her parent/guardian, unless other arrangements have been made with Insurgent Fitness.

All children under the age of 14 must remain behind the caution tape that runs along the floor of the fitness gym when entering and leaving the martial arts room.

  • To access the facility you will need to download the Kisi app specific to your device: Android | Apple

The Kisi app will require access to either your Location services or your bluetooth.

    If you enable Location
Open the Kisi app and click the blue Lock icon for the door you want to unlock. When you are within proximity of the reader, you will see "Nearby" text next to the "Locked" text beneath the lock icon.

When the Reader turns green the door unlocks.

    If you enable RFID/bluetooth
You may tap (lightly) your phone against the reader, without the Kisi app open. When the reader turns green the door unlocks.

If there is an error message in the Kisi app, click the account icon in the top right corner and then select "Introduction" to reset the app and grant it the access it requires.

If you are unable to gain entry do to any other errors please contact us.

Martial Art Programs

  • ABSOLUTELY no shoes OR socks are allowed on the martial art mat.

Shoes carry countless germs that can be spread onto the mat and cause skin infections and skin irritations. It is a good habit to bring slip on shoes when coming to a class.

Understand, if you are caught not wearing shoes in the gym or into the bathroom and then walk back onto the martial art mat, you will be asked to leave and will be banned from the building for 24 hours.

  • Each page for this site (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and MMA) all have a list of required gear, optional gear, and gear/attire that is prohibited. Please see each page for the list of gear needed.

For the first few classes you can get by wearing only workout clothing (shorts and tshirt). However, if you find you enjoy the class you will need to buy the necessary gear to continue on with the class. Our online store sells the required items for our classes. If we don't have it in stock we will order it for you.

  • We offer Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, also known as BJJ.

We offer Muay Thai, also known as the art of eight limbs and/or Thai boxing.

Our other class is our Cage and Ground class, or mixed martial arts (MMA)- combining both BJJ and Muay Thai into one art.

  • Yes. Regardless of what martial art membership you signed up for, you can attend any number of classes you want each month- per the membership you signed up with (if you signed up for Muay Thai only and you want to try a BJJ class, you will need to purchase the BJJ drop in to attend).

Please be aware because of the popularity of some of our classes you may have to pre-register for the class you want to attend due to limited space.

  • Yes. Our Youth Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) has a minimum age of 4 years old with a max age of 15 years. Our Adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has a minimum age of 16 years and up. Our Adult Muay Thai classes have a minimum age of 14 years of age (Parents be aware your child will be attending and practicing with adults in the Muay Thai classes).

There are exceptions to the listed rules above- though age is a factor for attending youth classes, size will also play roll on wheather your child will be in the youth classes or adult classes.

Memberships & Accounts

  • Our family plans are for households that consist of either a wife and husband, a domestic partnership, or parent(s) signing up with children. Children fall under three category types: biological, step-child, and/or the primary member has guardianship over the child. If a child is over the age of 18 years with no disabilties and is "independent" do not qualify under the family plan.

No other EXCEPTIONS are made for the family plan.

  • The group plans are pretty straight forward- generally these plans are for

    • family members (1 adult and 1 child; 2 adults and [number of] child(ren));
    • roommates
    • couples

To qualify for the full discount of a group plan, all members must be on the same exact plan- no mix and matching of different memberships for each member.

One member on the group plan is required to be marked as the primary member (the primary member is responsible for paying for all members on the plan). Group plans cannot have the price split among the members.

Group plans are discounted and do not qualify for additional discounts.

Standard group plans have a max number of 4 individuals, while the family plan allows up to 5 family members (2 adults and 3 children).

Group plans must be setup on the back-end by a staff member. Please contact us by email to set up. We will need to know the names of each member and each member is required to sign our waivers, before we can set up the group plan.

  • Yes! We have multiple plans to choose from. We have memberships for gym only, BJJ only, Youth BJJ only. Muay Thai only; or BJJ + gym, Muay Thai + gym, BJJ and Muay Thai only, and the list goes on.

  • We required a 30 days written notice (email) prior to the first of the following month (next bill date). Please contact us through the gymdesk app or the online gym portal to cancel. By contacting us through your gym portal creates a digital trail.

  • The most common reason for canceling your account.

We are billed each month per "active" member in our gym software. Therefore, we cancel accounts that have no active memberships. So if you were a day/week passer or a pre-paid member, and you are returning after either of these memberships expired, we most likely canceled your account.

You can email us, and we will be happy to reactivate your account.

  • Yes. We can place a hold on your account, but there are a few things to note:

    1. If your hold request is made within the first 6 months after signing up, it will result in your disqualification for the loyalty program discount (if your membership type is eligible for the loyalty program).
    2. Holds are in monthly increments starting on the 1st of the following month.
    3. There is a $10 hold fee for each month the account is to be on hold. This is billed immediately when the hold is applied to the account.
    4. You will NOT be billed your normal monthly rate for the duration of the hold.
    5. We can only do a maximum hold length of 3 months in a 12-month period.
    6. You will not have access to the building during the hold.
    7. The length of the hold does NOT count towards the yearly contract membership but extends the contract equal to the months the account is on hold.
    8. Cancelling a hold early does not issue a refund of the hold fee. If the hold is released early and in the middle of the month, your account will be billed a prorated amount from the day the hold is released to the end of the current month.
    9. Cancelling a membership on a hold must adhere to the 30-day notice for cancellation. A membership that is on a hold and a cancellation request is made will remove the current hold and reactivate the membership. Any remaining days/months left from the hold are voided. A pro-rated amount will be billed for the remaining days left from the date the hold is lifted to the end of the month. If the cancellation request is less than 30 days from the next normal billing cycle (1st of the following month), you are subject to the normal billing date with a final charge billed in the full amount of the membership to the card on file on the 1st of the upcoming month. The membership will then be cancelled out at the end of the normal billing cycle.

Payments

  • You don't.

For our gym members, you are billed on the 1st of every month. If you sign up during the month (not on the 1st), your first payment will be prorated from the date you sign up to the end of the current month. The full payment will then be auto-drafted from the payment method on file on the 1st of the following month.

For our online clients, your bill date is on the date of your initial sign-up.

  • Nope. There are no sign-up fees when you first join us.

  • There can be various reasons why your payment failed. You will need to contact us directly to see why, but there is nothing we can do/change to make the payment go through. Please contact your bank/credit card issuer to see why your payment failed.

We provide you a 4 day grace period starting from the 1st of the month. If payment is not received, you will have until the end of the 4th day to make payment before the late payment fee is applied to the amount owed.

  • You can update your payment information by logging into your account either through the the "Gymdesk" app or by logging in via the gym portal link under the Login menu item.

Once logged in, go to billing or payment method.

Once a payment method is added, you cannot remove it until you enter a new payment method. If you added a new payment method you will need to mark it as "default/primary" so payments will auto drafted from the new method.

  • We only accept cash (the exact amount) on prepaid plans. Prepaid plans do not auto renew. However, you are not grandfathered in at that price should you decide to renew the prepaid plan when it expires.

To pay by cash you will need to schedule an appointment with us.

We do not accept cash for any auto renewing monthly memberships. All auto renewing membership plans must be setup on an automatic payment plan through either a debit/credit card or ACH.

  • Our merchant processor charges a processing fee based on your payment type (we hate fee's too!). None-the-less this fee is billed to you after payment is sent to the merchant processor for processing.

Because invoices can be updated prior to being sent to the merchant processor, the fee will not be shown on the "upcoming" invoice until the invoice is actually sent to the merchant processor for processing.

You will be able to view the final invoice in your member profile after payment is processed.

The merchant processing fee is 2.9% for debit/credit cards OR 0.8% for ACH payments.

  • We do not issue refunds unless a mistake was made on our end.

It is not our fault, our staff's fault, or anyone affiliated with Insurgent Fitness's fault because you did not contact us to cancel or provide 30 days notice to cancel.

Understand, even if you request a refund, AND THEN make your request to cancel, if the request to cancel is less than 30 days, you will be billed as normal per the membership agreement.

You will continue to have access to the facility for the month you paid.

Discounts

  • Our Loyalty Program is exactly that—a discount program for members who are loyal and have made six (6) consecutive payments.

Only certain memberships qualify for the loyalty program, as indicated by the star icon shown on qualifying memberships. Visit our memberships page to see the list.

    To qualify for the program:

    • You must make a total of 6 monthly payments on your account starting on the first full payment received after signing up. Prorated payments do not count towards the first qualifying payment.
    • No payment can be late during the initial 6-month period. A payment is considered late after the 4th day.
    • The account must not be placed on hold during the initial 6-month period.
    • The account must not be canceled during the initial 6-month period.
    • You are a new member (not a returning member who canceled a previous membership with us).

Once you qualify, the loyalty discount will automatically be applied in the 7th month and will remain in effect for the life of the membership.

If your membership is canceled (for any reason) after qualifying for the loyalty program, you will lose the loyalty discount and will not be eligible for it again.

To clarify: If you had a recurring membership with us, (not a day pass, week pass, or drop in) and you cancelled the membership, but have decided to return YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE LOYALTY PROGRAM, no exceptions. The loyalty program is designed for loyal members—if you canceled with us previously, you weren't very loyal...

After you qualify for the loyalty program, you may place a hold on the account with no penalty.

Other discounts cannot be combined with the Loyalty Program. The loyalty program can only be applied once (on the 7th month) and cannot be applied to a membership at a later date. Once applied, any discounts promotions you intial received at time of sign up are cancelled voided.

  • Yes! We offer:

    • Student discount of 5% off
    • Veteran/first responder discount of 10% off

If you sign up for a membership that qualifies for the Loyalty program, any of the above discounts will be removed when the loyalty program goes into effect in the 7th month.

To receive the above discounts, you will need to email us with:

    Student Discount:
Your class schedule showing credit hours of 12 or more, along with the current semester (cannot be past or upcoming) and must show your name.

    Veteran:
Send a copy of an unexpired military ID or DD214 with an Honorable discharge.

    First responder:
To qualify as a first responder, you must work in the field, i.e., you are the one who arrives first on the scene (a first responder is not someone who works in the ER, or on the hospital floor, or works in dispatch, etc). A first responder is someone WHO actually shows up first on a 911 scene. If you meet this criteria, send a copy of your badge and your most recent pay stub.

In your email, please state which membership you want to sign up for. You will also need to have signed our online waivers.

The above discounts cannot be combined with other discounts.

  • Sometimes.

We have a love/hate relationship when it comes to monthly promotions. Sure, they will help bring members, but generally it only brings the members that were never trully committed to fitness or martial arts to begin with. Therefore, from our experience, they cancel within a month or two.

We are far more interested in having members who stay. Who are actually committed to being better, and not just the idea of it.

If we do do a promotion, it will be advertised on our social medial pages.
