Our MMA program is designed to bridge the gap between our Insurgent Striking and Insurgent Grappling martial arts, creating a cohesive art that prepares athletes for self defense situations and for the sport of MMA. Students are instructed in three main categories:
Strikes while standing to dominate your opponent and using strikes for taking the fight to the ground or stopping it from going to the ground.
Cage and Wall grappling focusing on controls and escapes to use the cage/wall to your advantage either offensively or defensively.
Wrestling movements focusing on pressure controls, pins, escapes, and includes Brazilian Jiu Jitsu offensive and defensive techniques.
Our MMA instruction has undergone rigorous testing in the cage, yielding impressive results with many of our fighters achieving victories in the 1st round, and some even securing wins within just 2 minutes.
Furthermore, our trainers are not just instructors; they're educators who mentor and guide future trainers in the art of MMA.
In Flagstaff, it's rare to find an MMA instructor who hasn't been trained under the Insurgent banner. Why? Because our training methodology delves straight into the core techniques essential for top-tier fighting. Our teaching approach prioritizes fundamental fighting skills, ensuring students gain a thorough comprehension of the techniques imparted.
At Insurgent, we firmly believe that fundamentals are the key to consistent victory in fights, while flashy techniques often fall short.
Moreover, our instructors tailor their coaching to accommodate each fighter's individual style, disregarding personal preferences. Whether you're a grappler or a striker, our instruction is customized to enhance your strengths and refine your skills accordingly.
We strive for each student to succeed in their goals, regardless if you are training for competition or for the pure exercise of it. We place a high degree in the quality of our fighters, unlike other schools who just put students in the cage so they can claim to have "fighters".
Insurgent actually cares for their students and their well-being. Before any new student can step into the MMA cage, Insurgent requires new students (who want to fight) to first fight inside the Muay Thai ring and enter into one BJJ tournament. This approach allows the student to place specific focus on his/her striking skills and grappling techniques without worrying about combining both immediately.
To prepare fighters, Insurgent also designs fight camps for fighters and incorporates the fight camp into the classes. This way classmates feel included in the training, and work along fighters elevating everyone's performance and technique. Insurgent also has trainers on hand to help students who are in fight camp, achieve the best conditioning possible before their fights.
